-
- I just got thru fixing one of those. I noted that the "battery" was a
- bit weirdly shaped, and that it did not have any terminal voltage
- that I could measure, but also didn't appear to have any continuity
- in either direction. The machine however, kept perfect time! So, I
- came to the conclusion that the "battery" was actually some kind of a
- seriel interfaced combination of clock chip and internal battery, all
- sealed in a can that *loosely* resembles a lithium button cell but 3x
- thicker, and with a pronounced flange on the top edge.
-
- I even took it out and booted the machine, which then did not know
- what time it was. There was not more than 100 millivolts on the
- hidden, bottom face connector spring either. So I don't think the
- miggy try's to charge it like the earlier ones did the Varta
- batteries in them.
-
- Do make sure that the retainer clips do hold it snuggly though. This
- one was a bit flaky till I tightened them up a bit.
-
- If its bad, I expect the replacement might be a TekMagic only item.
-
- Good luck
